With the Lara Fun Run fast approaching on Sunday the 5th of November now is a great time to get started with your training to make sure you can keep the ‘fun’ in a fun run. To make this run as enjoyable as possible, follow this checklist on how to prepare:

1. Mark the date in the calendar or on the fridge, make sure it's somewhere you will often see to keep you motivated

2. Make goals on what distance you would like to complete and an estimate on a timeframe

3. Make a training plan. There are lots of available resources online and on the Lara Fun Run website. Just make sure it fits in with your goals and isn't too difficult from the outset

4. Invest in a new pair of shoes! Your legs and feet are going to do some work so make sure they are supported. Shoes aren't built to last long periods and it is recommended to replace every 400-600kms, which isn't very far at all!

5. Include cross training. Adding in other forms of exercises like swimming, cycling and gym work is great way to add fitness without wearing out your legs doing the same exercises. All elite runners include other forms of training.

6. Get out and train!
